last post i said i didn't have many easter decorations- well that just became a challenge for myself. I decided i wanted to decorate eggs- you know the real eggs that you blow out the yolks? well i tried it this year and the kids helped me paint them...

they are a pain in the but- but at least i can display them for awhile and if i store them carefully maybe even next year( yeah i know the chances of that are pretty slim)
so i was going to do a tutorial on how to do this... but good ol martha has one that is just fine...
here it is
basically you take a raw egg. take a pin. poke a hole in the top. poke a hole in the bottom, wiggle the needle a bit to make that one bigger (if you don't get it big enough you can pop open the egg when you blow through it- yeah learned that one from experience- i went through a bunch of eggs that way :)
then you blow through it- you can use a straw or just your mouth on the egg- a little gross though - but you will be blue in the face later.
i found an old boogie getter- you know a nasal aspirator- cleaned it out really good and used that.
then i used water and cleaned it out then bleach water and let dry and then painted with acylic paints. i also took some craft glue and painted on and added glitter- those are pretty cool looking.
then i strung some ribbon through- another pain in my but- really haven't found a good method because my needle is too short...
here is another martha link on how to do that,
egg tree

so i have a blooming plum tree in my backyard that just started to bloom- so i cut a good size limb. i put a piece of styrofoam in the bottom, added water. then i used scotch tape and criss crossed the top to keep it in place- i want to get some moss to cover it.
now todd was upset because i cut the limb, when only a few blooms were opened and he was afraid they wouldn't open inside but they are and it looks prettier every day.
i still have more eggs to put on there, but i haven't put the ribbon on them yet.
by the way there are 4 eggs on there that i bought- they have more ribbon on them...
here is an egg my son made- he used his thumbprint for the chicks/ducks and then i went and added the features when it was dry with some fine-tipped sharpies...

Those are so cute, I am not patient enough to do the blowing, did it before it is hard...good luck storing them for next year. I am sticking with decorating the plastic ones myself. Cute decor!
