jack-o-lanterns!!!

So last night we had a night off- big girl had a week off from cheerleading! Since we have something every other night this week- we decided it would be perfect night to carve our pumpkins. I have to admit- I really LOVE carving pumpkins! I get into it. I have a lil orange case that has all my tools- and this year I bought another carving kit which included a cd with templates on it. (found it at Michaels)
So I asked the kids what they wanted - Big girl picked out at witch because that is what she is dressing up as for Halloween. and she found hers on the cd. Lil boy wanted Kirby- yeah Kirby that pink lil nintendo/game character. So i get online and search and found a picture of a jack-o-lantern that someone else had done. of course- no pattern- but it was pretty simple so i drew the pieces and made it up.
My hubby decides that wild one needs a duck and goes online and tries to find a duck pattern. Well he found a Daisy Duck pattern, problem is the sight only let you print it really tiny. So i had to self enlarge it(that means draw it by hand), did it and it was too big for my pumpkin, did it again and it was still too big- 3rd time was a charm and was able to get it right.

So this is how pumpkin carving night works in our family. the kids pick out their pattern. my hubby cuts off the tops and the kids are supposed to clean it out. I heard yuck, gross, this is gooey a thousand times that night. my hubby helps clean out the pumpkins (only because he wants those precious seeds). I start on carving the pumpkins the kids help him clean them out and get the seeds cleaned so he can roast them. I think we started out about 6, at 9:30 I was just finishing wild ones- but that included having to draw her pattern. now i did have a handicap- my wrist has been hurting alot lately. not sure what the deal is- it gets aggrivated when i bend it alot. might be carpal tunnel- not sure-so that made it a bit difficult - i even had to ask big girl to pick out a different witch because the first one she picked was too intricate.

so are you dying to see what they looked like?

here they are....
Here they are with the lights on...
